California Senate Passes Vaccine Bill

"The measure, which calls for vaccinations to be compulsory, was submitted by Senator Panel after the measles outbreak last year at Disneyland. The outbreak affected over 100 people. Globally more than 400 people die each year due to measles, but a vaccine is available that could save the child from contracting the possible fatal disease."

400 people die each year from Measles?  There are 8 billion people on planet earth.  That means we all have a one in 20 million chance to get the measles.  Is it worth it?  Maybe the engineer at the start of the assembly line is having a bad day and the receiver of the the vaccine gets a double or triple dose of mercury.  Is it worth it?  Who is sponsoring this bill?

And I quote:

Dr. Pan was among more than two dozen California lawmakers who received campaign donations on record from Merck in the 2010 election cycle, ahead of supporting a 2011 law allowing girls as young as 12 years old to receive Gardasil vaccinations for HPV (manufactured by Merck) without parental consent.
